What is Psychotherapy &Counselling?

Psychotherapy and counselling are forms of talking therapy that provide a safe, confidential and supportive space to address emotional, psychological, or situational challenges. They offer an opportunity to reflect on your experiences, gain greater self-understanding, and work towards improved emotional well-being.

People seek support for many different reasons, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, life transitions, or a sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Some people come with a specific issue, while others wish to understand themselves more deeply and develop greater emotional awareness.

Counselling often focuses on present difficulties and immediate concerns, while psychotherapy may explore deeper emotional patterns, early experiences, relationships, attachment, and unresolved experiences that continue to influence our lives. Depending on your needs, sessions may involve short term support or longer term therapeutic work.

How does Psychotherapy & Counselling work?

Sessions provide a supportive and confidential space to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships. Together, we explore the issues affecting your well-being, identify patterns that may contribute to emotional difficulties, and develop greater understanding and new ways of responding.

Each session is tailored to your individual needs. Some people seek support during difficult periods of life, while others wish to explore longstanding emotional patterns, trauma, relationship difficulties, or questions relating to identity and personal growth.

As an integrative and trauma informed psychotherapist, I draw upon different therapeutic approaches according to your individual needs, including counselling, psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma informed approaches, somatic and body-based approaches, and parts work where appropriate.
