Regression Therapy
What is Regression Therapy?
Many of our current challenges, such as fear, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and addictions, have their roots in our past. Regression Therapy is a method used to uncover the underlying causes of these present problems and conditions. In some cases, these issues may not only stem from childhood but also from experiences beyond this life, often referred to as past life memories. Past Life Regression is another modality that I offer, allowing clients to explore deeply rooted patterns or traumas that may have originated in previous lifetimes.
After several years of working with clients who have experienced fear, anxiety, depression, and other complaints, I can confidently say that many of these difficulties stem from experiences in our childhood. The challenge we face is that events from our past, even those we may not consciously remember, continue to shape us as adults and influence our behaviour in profound ways. These forgotten yet painful experiences often carry emotional wounds that have never fully healed, affecting our thoughts, emotions, and actions in the present.
Our identity — how we think, feel, and act — has been profoundly influenced by everything that has unfolded in our lives up to this point. However, in some cases, the root of a present-day issue seems to trace back not just to childhood, but to an earlier existence. Whether one believes in reincarnation or not, some clients, when regressing to uncover the root cause of an issue, find themselves in a time and place beyond their current life. These experiences, whether symbolic or literal, can provide valuable insight and healing by revealing the origins of unexplainable emotional patterns, fears, or behaviours.
With a greater understanding of ourselves and our past, we have the power to change unhealthy thoughts and behaviours and develop new, healthier responses. The process of Regression Therapy allows for exploration of these deeper layers of the self, unlocking pathways to profound transformation and emotional freedom
How does it work?
A regression session typically starts with a discussion between the client and the therapist. This initial conversation serves multiple purposes, including establishing trust, clarifying the client's goals, and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
Once the goals are clearly defined, the Regression Therapy process begins. While I might employ relaxation techniques, the emphasis remains on keeping the client fully engaged and present. This approach ensures that the client is an active participant in their own healing journey.
As the session unfolds, clients revisit significant events or moments in their life — or, in the case of Past Life Regression, experiences from a previous existence — that are tied to their current issues. This process aims to unravel the threads of time and uncover the root causes of the challenges the client is currently facing. Simultaneously, I help the client gain profound insights into how these past experiences have shaped their beliefs, behaviours, and emotional responses in their current life. By connecting the dots between past and present challenges, clients can gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their issues.
Once the underlying issues are identified and brought to light, the focus shifts towards resolution and healing. By guiding the client through the process of addressing and resolving past wounds, we facilitate a journey towards emotional liberation and empowerment, enabling the client to let go of burdensome patterns and embrace a more positive and fulfilling life path. Towards the end of the session, there is typically a reflective discussion. This discussion provides an opportunity for the client to process and consolidate the insights and experiences gained during the session. It also serves as a bridge between the past exploration and the client's present life.
Depending on the client's goals and progress, follow-up sessions may be recommended to continue the therapeutic journey. The number of sessions required varies from person to person and depends on the complexity of the issues being addressed.
In summary, Regression Therapy is a guided exploration of one's past aimed at uncovering and resolving unresolved traumas and patterns affecting one's current life. By keeping clients actively engaged and present, this approach empowers individuals to embark on a path of self-discovery, healing, and personal growth.
How can Regression Therapy help me?
I have used Regression Therapy successfully with individuals of varying ages and backgrounds. Regression Therapy differs from other types of psychotherapy in that it can give results more quickly. Some problems can be adequately sorted out in two or three sessions. This contrasts with traditional psychotherapy, such as psychoanalysis, where clients typically attend sessions weekly for years.
Past Life Regression is particularly useful when current issues — such as fears, phobias, or unexplainable emotional responses — seem to have no clear cause in the client's present life. By exploring prior existences, clients can uncover and release patterns of behaviour, trauma, and limiting beliefs that are still subconsciously active in this life. These sessions offer individuals the opportunity to gain clarity and free themselves from emotional patterns, unresolved burdens, and limiting beliefs.
Common results of Regression Therapy are:
- mental results: mental health, clear-mindedness, self-knowledge, understanding people, liberation from mental prisons and tunnel views or preconceived ideas;
- emotional results: inner calm, self-acceptance and self-reliance, restoring empathy and positive emotions (like being able to enjoy), expressing emotions (like anger and sadness);
- bodily results: disappearance of tensions and complaints, psychosomatic problems like low energy, low resistance, hypersensitivity, and in general complaints without medical explanation.
How long does it take and how many sessions are usually necessary?
The first session usually takes 2 hours as half an hour is allocated for the interview time. Any follow-up sessions are 1.5 hours long. The number of sessions needed depends on the nature and complexity of the presenting issue and how the client responds to the therapy. For some clients an issue might be resolved after 2 or 3 sessions for others it might require more sessions.
